Shivaarti Bajaj, a certified patent attorney and Co-Founding Managing Partner of RSD Bajaj Global Law Firm, shines as a trailblazer in the world of law and business. She is a highly successful female lawyer and tech entrepreneur in India, known for her achievements in launching and growing multiple digital startups.

Academic Journey And Professional Beginnings

Shivaarti Bajaj is an ambitious learner who did various courses and earned degrees in different fields. Right from the start, Shivaarti had a keen interest in understanding the language of law, engaging in related debates, and exploring its history. Building on this, She completed her LLB with a specialization in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). Later, she completed a Masters in Biotechnology and Allied Sciences. She also did Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies from Harvard Business School (HBSX). 

She pursued her interest in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), which refers to the legal rights given to the creators to protect their innovations or creations for a specified duration. Under the mentorship of the late Dr. Sagar, known as the “Father of IPRs in India,” she started her career as a Managing Associate at the IPR law firm “Remfry & Sagar” in 2008.

In 2015, Shivaarti became a co-founding member of RSD Bajaj Global Law Firm, India’s first Strategic Advisory Full-Service Global Law Firm. RSD provides strategic advice to clients in the modern economy, covering legal and business aspects, including Corporate, Private Equity (PE), Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Data Privacy, and litigation.

Shivaarti is an advisor, sharing her extensive knowledge in Data privacy, IPR, and TMT at the law firm. Particularly, she focuses on Emerging Technologies like OTT, digital media, broadcasting, the internet, and convergence, as well as hybrid areas such as EdTech, FinTech, AgriTech, and HealthTech.

She has recently contributed to the formulation of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act and the Digital India Bill, leading the policymaking in law.  

GoParties To BoxEngage: The Evolution Of Shivaarti’s Innovative Entertainment Platform

Shivaarti also worked for an offline entertainment app called “GoParties,” a platform for discovering and booking offline events, parties, concerts, bands, and artists in the city. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the app became a digital platform, “BoxEngage.” This app allows more than just following or commenting on photos and videos; it also lets content creators form a bond with clients through short live streams, longer pre-recorded videos, or private sessions.

BoxEngage received a significant boost when, in 2022, The Government of India banned 59 Chinese apps, including TikTok, making it a better Indian alternative. It has gained more than a million Indian content creators to date.

Contributions And Recognitions

Shivaarti Bajaj is the chair of the Young Members Committee at the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI), supporting young professionals in the legal industry. Also, she has received multiple accolades, including BW Legal Powerlist 40 under 40, Intellectual Property Lawyer, and Tech Lawyer of the Year in 2023.

Shivaarti Bajaj is a standout figure in law and entrepreneurship, revolutionizing the legal field. Her inventive methods have reshaped how law combines with business, impacting how they work together. Her leadership brought new ideas that altered the legal landscape, showing adaptability and pushing boundaries in the entrepreneurial realm.
