The Future of Play: 5 Women-Owned Brands Creating Toys for Kids

In this article, I invite you to join me on a journey through five women-led brands for kid's toys. These brands have taken up the mantle of creating toys that not only capture children's imaginations but also foster their social and emotional development. From interactive puzzles to eco-friendly building blocks, each brand brings something unique to the table, promising a blend of fun and enrichment for young minds.

1. THE LITTLE BOO

Mona Gupta embarked on a journey with her brand, The Little Boo, with a mission to educate the new generation with toys itself. Their toys are BIS-certified and are made with eco-friendly and non-toxic materials. All wooden toys are made of high-quality wood, such as steam beech, pine wood, and birch ply. Baby toys by The Little Boo play an important role in the development of a child's memory and self-confidence, as it will not only stimulate their learning but will also increase their hand/eye coordination.

What do they offer? 

They offer a wide range of sensory and educational toys such as-  time learning clock, puzzles, wooden abacus, building blocks, crochet rattles, kitchen tool toys, and more. 

Age Group: They offer toys for 1 to 4-year-old kids.

Price Range: The toys range from INR 299 to INR 2,999.

2. LITTLE LLAMA

Dr. Shweta Gupta, a mother herself, founded the brand Little Llama out of a personal need for sustainable, good-quality kid's toys. Little Llama specializes in handcrafted rag dolls. These traditional toys are crafted using high-quality cotton and linen fabrics filled with non-allergenic Polyfill, ensuring that they are safe for children to play with. The toys offer a combination of safety, sustainability, and sensory benefits, making them not just toys but companions that children can love and parents can trust.

What do they offer? 

She offers a variety of traditional rag dolls, jungle-themed toys, animal-on-a-stick toys, and cuddlers. 

Price range: The price of rag dolls ranges from INR 700 to INR 3,360.

3. The Baby First Box

The Baby First Box by Garima Aggrawal is your one stop destination for all of your newborn needs. She started this brand to make the pregnancy experience easier and more enjoyable for the new parents. Their baby toys are Made with soft and natural cotton yarn, they are super gentle for baby's skin & safe for them to put in their mouth. Their toys stimulate multiple senses, including hearing and touch.

What do they offer? 

They offer a variety of handmade crochet rattle toys with wooden handles such as- rabbit, elephant, mickey mouse, and giraffe, all in vibrant colors. 

Age Group: They offer toys for newborn babies (0-3 months).

Price Range: The rattles range from INR 499 to INR 599.

4. BERRY BEE

Berry Bee is an all toys brand. The founder, Kirti, identified the gap in the market for kids' toys that are 100% safe, engaging, and fun. With her prior experience in fabric and textiles she started this journey with rattle toys and later on expanded to more educational toys. 

What do they offer? 

They offer a wide variety of toys from rattles, spy mats, pre-writing boards, dine and doodle mats, colorful activity cubes, and many more.

Age Group: They offer toys for newborn babies to 4+ years old. 

Price Range: The toys range from INR 600 to INR 6,000.

5. ARIRO

Ariro is a kid's toy brand by Nisha Ramasamy. It all started when she wanted to provide a good wooden teether for her child. She noticed the gap in the Indian market, and that's when their brand 'Ariro' was born. All of their products are made with neem wood and they are the first ones to be inventing neem wood teether for newborns. 

What do they offer? 

They offer toys such as - teethers, sliders, rattles, art box etc. along with wooden puzzles and  development aids such as- push and pull toys, balancing toys, jungle gym and more. 

Age Group: They offer toys for newborns to 30+ months old babies. 

Price Range: The toys are ranging from INR 179 to INR 90,019.

The kid's toys we choose hold the power to shape their developmental journey. By supporting these homegrown brands led by visionary women, we can provide our children with toys that are not only fun but will also help them grow meaningfully.
