Anybody can Dance: Beginner's Guide to Dance your Day Out

January 12, 2023

Whether you're a beginner or an experienced dancer, dancing is an amazing activity that anyone of any age, size, or gender can enjoy. If you enjoy this incredible play, you're probably used to twirling around the living room or using your countertop as a barre.

However, Learning from an experienced choreographer is a great way to get the most out of your dancing pursuits. Mastering your dance steps is much easier when you have a skilled and dedicated mentor assisting you. Of course, practice is one way to improve your dance skills. But that’s not all.

Here are some simple tips if you are a beginner to be a Good Dancer.

Keep up with your dancing classes.

Let's be honest here. Every aspiring dancer should take dance lessons. Even the best dancers attend regular classes to maintain their fitness levels. Many people believe they can learn to dance without taking classes. That's not right, though.

You must take dance classes to become a good dancer, just as you did to excel in school.

Start Stretching

Stretching is an essential component of the dance. Stretch before you take the stage to avoid injury. If you dance while your body is stiff, you risk pulling a muscle or injuring yourself and having to sit out. Warming up and stretching will help prevent this from happening.

Have a goal

Every dancer, whether aspiring, amateur, or professional, has a goal. You are new to dancing in your case. Your goal could be to compete in a dance competition or sly on the dance floor for your sister's Sangeet Ceremony.

Know your Art

Dancers frequently make a common error. When they are learning a new dance, they focus on their feet. You may wish to do so, but it may not be the best idea because dancing is not about seeing. It's all about emotion. Try to remember how your weight shifts and how you need to move your body in specific directions to feel the dance.

Take your time deciding on a dance style.

We understand you must be perplexed by the variety of dance styles available. Which dance style is best, or which is simple and appealing? Hip-hop, Bollywood, and salsa are all simple dance styles to learn.  Try out different dance styles and then pick your favourite! Don't take up a dance style under duress if you want to thrive.

Still, Confused about how to start your journey to be a good dancer? We have your back. Thanks to professional dancers like Megha Sultani who are available to help you improve your dancing. Megha is an accomplished choreographer with over 8 years of experience. Her love and passion for dance led her to pursue it as a career. She is an avid dancer and choreographer who was trained by renowned choreographer Shamak Davar and has worked as part of his team of instructors. She collaborated with numerous prominent Bollywood actors during this time on shoots and award shows like IIFA and FILMFARE, to name a few.

While Megha's dance performances will keep your attention, she believes her success mantra is to stay focused on your goal and put in consistent effort to achieve it.

No matter how hard we try, we know that describing such a talent in a few words is impossible. Do you wish to find out more about her?
