Niharika Jain Agrawal: Redefining Helper Services With A Tech-Powered Platform “Broomees”

December 22, 2023

In current times, where everyone is always in a rush, balancing work and personal commitments has become tough. In such times, having domestic help on whom you can rely can make your routine convenient and hassle-free. Whether it’s a maid, cook, or a nanny, it’s nothing less than a blessing today. However, the process of finding reliable help can be tricky because, sadly, this sector is mostly disorganized and lacks reliability, leaving us feeling uneasy while looking for domestic help.

Recognizing this concern, Niharika Jain Agrawal alongside her two partners, launched “Broomees.” This initiative aimed to organize the domestic help sector and provide people with a range of caregiving services for their family care needs.

Niharika Jain Agrawal’s Educational Journey

In 2018, Niharika Jain graduated from Hindu College, Delhi University, with a degree in commerce. During her studies, she worked as an intern with prominent MNCs such as PWC and Accenture. Immediately after graduating, she started her career as a Research Analyst with Egon Zehnder for two years. Later, she decided to apply for an MBA at the Indian School of Business (ISB), and that is when she got in touch with her Co-founders, Vaibhav Agrawal & Saurav Kumar. Vaibhav and Saurav were involved in social entrepreneurship, dedicating their efforts toward different NGOs and in educating underprivileged kids. Their work significantly influenced her, leading her to collaborate with them and causing her to drop her MBA.

Identifying Gaps and Initiating Change

While working for NGOs and with children, they found that there is a rise in child labor due to disorganization in the domestic help sector. They believed that if the parents of these underprivileged kids could secure jobs with proper wages and dignity, the issue of child labor would decrease. Along with this, another thing they noticed is that there is a lack of reliable platforms providing trustworthy helpers, which motivated them to step into this sector to bridge the gap between helpers and those who are looking for them.

Broomees: Revolutionizing Family Care Services

In 2020, Niharika Jain with her partners co-founded “Broomees India Pvt Ltd”. She is not just the Founder but also serves as the Chief Strategy Officer in the company. Broomes is a digital platform revolutionizing the process of hiring helpers and providing people with an array of domestic help and caregiving services according to their needs.

This online marketplace offers trained and experienced helpers who go through a screening process and are hired only after Aadhaar and police verification, making them reliable. These helpers include caretakers, babysitters, cooks, drivers, security guards, and office staff, who you can easily book by visiting their platform. Broomees also has a mobile app available on both iOS and Android platforms, making it easy for all to get this help at their fingertips.

 Broomees: A Trail of Success

Broomees” began with just 50-60 helpers but has since hired over 40,000 workers, expanding its operations across several cities. Helpers who used to earn meager wages for their services are now earning twice as much for the same work.

With support from global VC firms such as Antler, Magic Fund, 100x, and others, the startup has raised over US$ 600,000 in funding to date. Broomees was featured on Shark Tank India Season 2 and secured a total investment of INR 01 Crore from prominent investors Namita Thapar of Emcure, Aman Gupta of BoAt, and Peyush Bansal of Lenskart. Currently, the startup is operating extensively in Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, Noida, South Delhi, and Faridabad, with plans to expand to other parts of the country and internationally.

As Broomees continues to expand its footprint, Niharika Jain Agrawal’s journey remains an inspiring tale of making impactful changes in the world.
