Kkanso Living: Rennu Mithal’s Approach to Blend of Style and Utility

August 27, 2024

In a world where home décor often swings between being too flashy or just plain practical, there's a growing need for something that balances both. That's exactly where Kkanso Living, created by Rennu Mithal and her daughter Rivanjali, comes in.

A budding, women-led home décor brand, Kkanso Living was born from the mother-daughter’s shared passion for creating warm, inviting spaces.

How it started and brand philosophy

After dedicating over two decades to teaching and transitioning into a certified parenting coach, Rennu ventured into the world of homeware in 2022. It was her love for things related to home decor and table styling that led her to explore the path of entrepreneurship.

Kkanso Living offers a unique blend of simplicity and elegance through a range of home decor products designed to beautify everyday living. With her creations, Rennu wants to give her clients a break from hyper-designed home furnishings. Which is why; she adapted Scandinavian-inspired designs for Indian households, with a focus on linen, cotton, and stoneware.

Stoneware especially holds a deeply personal and emotional connection for Rennu as it signifies an ode towards her inspiration, her late father who was a stone merchant.

What all it offers?

Kkanso Living offers a variety of products, from cushions and table linen like table covers, runners and mats, napkins to table accessories and marble home decor pieces like coasters, urli, vases, cheese platters, candle stands, jewelry boxes, and more. You will also find a range of kitchen utility items on their website, such as cutlery, mortar pestle and aprons, etc.

With prices ranging from ₹750 to ₹5000, Kkanso Living ensures there’s something for everyone who appreciates understated yet functional decor.

What sets kkanso living apart?

Kkanso’s approach is all about making home styling effortless, with products that are functional and aesthetic. Their USP lies in its minimalist Scandinavian-inspired designs, with an emphasis on marble products. They produce products in small quantities to ensure they avoid wastage and every product finds a home.

Rennu’s vision is to simplify table settings and home décor for everyone. She wants to make Kkanso a go-to name for those seeking thoughtful and elegant gifts, and for anyone who wants to elevate their home’s aesthetic without making it feel over-designed.

Challenges in the journey and plans for growth

Rennu and Rivanjali faced their share of challenges during their entrepreneurial journey. But they strongly believe in a solution-oriented approach, where they are constantly learning and evolving. Their strategy is to grow Kkanso organically. The mother-daughter duo promote their online business themselves on social media and by participating in lifestyle Exhibitions every now and then.

Creating a brand with community involvement

Kkanso Living takes pride in its commitment to the community. Rennu collaborates with local artisans to make the products and ensures to provide them with fair wages. They also have a sustainability mind-set, which is why they avoid using plastic in their packaging.

Advice to other aspiring women entrepreneurs

Rennu strongly believes that being financially independent and loving yourself should be non-negotiable for all women, at any stage in life. For those who wish to start their entrepreneurial journey, her advice is to never be afraid of anyone and to not let your gender cannot dictate how people treat you.
